8. Legal Bases for Processing

Depending on the context and applicable law, including Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 and related regulations, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Contractual necessity — to provide the Platform and perform bookings, payments, and account services you request;
  • Consent — where you opt in to certain communications, upload documents, enable push notifications, or accept legal documents;
  • Legal obligation — to comply with law, regulatory requests, tax rules, or consumer protection requirements;
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the Platform, prevent fraud, improve services, and protect Users, provided such interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • Vital interests or public interest — where required in limited circumstances under applicable law.

Where consent is required, you may withdraw it as described in Section 16, subject to legal and contractual limitations.

Some of our service providers may process Personal Data outside Egypt.

Where Personal Data is transferred internationally, we take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law, including contractual protections with service providers where required.

By using the Platform, you understand that certain processing may occur in jurisdictions with different data protection standards than your own.

11. Cookies and Similar Technologies

11.1 No separate cookie consent banner

Beytak does not operate a separate cookie consent popup, banner, or preference center.

We describe our use of cookies and similar technologies in this Section. By accessing or continuing to use the Platform, you understand that these technologies may be placed on your device where permitted by applicable law.

11.2 What we mean by cookies and similar technologies

Cookies and similar technologies include HTTP cookies, local storage, session storage, pixels, tags, scripts, service workers, and related browser or device storage used to operate, secure, remember preferences for, or measure use of the Platform.

Information stored or accessed through these technologies may constitute Personal Data where it relates to an identifiable person.

11.3 Categories of use

We use these technologies in the following categories:

Strictly necessary and functional — to keep you signed in, protect accounts, prevent abuse, maintain sessions, support checkout and bookings, and operate core Platform features.

Preferences — to remember choices such as language, locale, and host/traveler mode.

Analytics and performance — to understand how the Platform is used, diagnose issues, and improve reliability and performance. This includes tools such as Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics, which may collect information such as pages viewed, device or browser type, approximate location derived from IP address, referral source, and interaction events.

Third-party feature technologies — when you use certain features, the relevant provider may set its own cookies or similar technologies. This includes:

  • Paymob — payment authorization, capture, refunds, and saved payment methods;
  • Google — social sign-in;
  • Didit — identity verification;
  • Mapbox — maps and location features;
  • Cloudinary — image upload, storage, and delivery.

These providers process information under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies when using the related features.

11.4 Legal basis

Depending on the technology and applicable law, including Law No. 151 of 2020, we rely on one or more of the following:

  • Contractual necessity — for sign-in, bookings, payments, and other features you request;
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the Platform, prevent fraud and abuse, and measure and improve performance, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • Consent — for optional features that require your action, such as push notifications or identity verification.

We do not claim that the Platform uses only strictly necessary cookies while analytics tools are active.

11.5 Your choices

You may:

  • adjust cookie and site-data settings in your browser;
  • clear cookies and browser storage for the Beytak site;
  • use browser privacy modes or extensions that limit analytics tracking;
  • manage notification preferences in your account settings where available;
  • choose not to use optional features such as social sign-in, identity verification, or saved payment methods.

Blocking or deleting certain technologies may affect sign-in, checkout, bookings, notifications, maps, or payments.

For questions about cookies, contact us using the details in Section 21.

12. Marketing and Notification Preferences

We may send communications through:

  • email;
  • SMS;
  • WhatsApp;
  • push notifications;
  • in-app messages.

These communications may include:

  • booking and account service messages;
  • verification and security alerts;
  • support responses;
  • legal or policy updates;
  • promotional messages, where permitted.

You can manage certain notification preferences in your account settings, including:

  • push notifications;
  • email notifications; and
  • WhatsApp notifications.

Even if you opt out of promotional communications, we may still send essential service, legal, security, and transaction-related messages.

13. Data Retention

We retain Personal Data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Retention periods may vary based on:

  • whether you maintain an active account;
  • whether a booking, payout, refund, dispute, or deposit claim is pending;
  • whether records are needed for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance;
  • whether consent records must be maintained to demonstrate acceptance of legal documents;
  • technical backup and disaster recovery requirements.

Examples:

  • Account data — retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward;
  • Booking and payment records — retained as needed for financial reconciliation, refunds, disputes, tax, and legal compliance;
  • Legal consent logs — retained to demonstrate which version of Terms or Policy was accepted;
  • Support and security logs — retained for investigation, abuse prevention, and system integrity;
  • Uploaded identity documents — retained while needed for active bookings, verification, legal obligations, or dispute resolution, then deleted or archived in accordance with our retention rules.

When Personal Data is no longer needed, we will delete, anonymize, or securely archive it, subject to legal and technical constraints.

14. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect Personal Data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

These measures may include:

  • access controls and authentication safeguards;
  • encryption or protected transport where appropriate;
  • tokenized payment processing through payment partners;
  • monitoring and logging of suspicious activity;
  • restricted access to sensitive documents and verification data;
  • secure deletion workflows for media stored with cloud providers.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorized access.

The Platform is intended for individuals 18 years of age or older.

We do not knowingly collect Personal Data directly from children under 18 for account registration.

If you believe a child has provided Personal Data to us in violation of this Policy, contact us and we will take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law.

  • deletion would impair another person's rights;
  • the request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or abusive;
  • we are required by law to retain or disclose the data.

16.3 Account closure

You may request account closure, subject to outstanding bookings, payouts, disputes, fraud reviews, and legal retention obligations.

Closing your account does not automatically delete all data immediately where retention is required by law or legitimate business needs.

17. Host-Specific Privacy Disclosures

If you are a Host, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • you may receive Traveler Personal Data necessary to manage bookings, including names, contact details, guest counts, and lawful identification documents;
  • you must use such data only for booking-related, hospitality, legal, and security purposes;

Beytak may review host account activity, listings, messages, and booking records for trust, safety, compliance, and support purposes.

  • rank or recommend listings;
  • detect fraud or policy violations;
  • moderate content;
  • translate messages or content;
  • generate support suggestions;

We do not guarantee that automated outputs are always accurate or complete.

Where applicable law grants you rights regarding automated decision-making, you may contact us to learn more about the logic involved and request human review where legally required.

We may update this Policy from time to time.

If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Platform, email, SMS, WhatsApp, push notification, or other appropriate means.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was most recently revised.

8. Legal Bases for Processing

Depending on the context and applicable law, including Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 and related regulations, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Contractual necessity — to provide the Platform and perform bookings, payments, and account services you request;
  • Consent — where you opt in to certain communications, upload documents, enable push notifications, or accept legal documents;
  • Legal obligation — to comply with law, regulatory requests, tax rules, or consumer protection requirements;
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the Platform, prevent fraud, improve services, and protect Users, provided such interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • Vital interests or public interest — where required in limited circumstances under applicable law.

Where consent is required, you may withdraw it as described in Section 16, subject to legal and contractual limitations.

9. How We Share Personal Data

10. International Data Transfers

  • Paymob — payment authorization, capture, refunds, and saved payment methods;
  • Google — social sign-in;
  • Didit — identity verification;
  • Mapbox — maps and location features;

  • Contractual necessity — for sign-in, bookings, payments, and other features you request;
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the Platform, prevent fraud and abuse, and measure and improve performance, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • Consent — for optional features that require your action, such as push notifications or identity verification.

We do not claim that the Platform uses only strictly necessary cookies while analytics tools are active.

11.5 Your choices

You may:

  • adjust cookie and site-data settings in your browser;
  • clear cookies and browser storage for the Beytak site;
  • use browser privacy modes or extensions that limit analytics tracking;
  • manage notification preferences in your account settings where available;

  • email;
  • SMS;
  • WhatsApp;
  • push notifications;
  • in-app messages.

These communications may include:

  • booking and account service messages;
  • verification and security alerts;
  • support responses;
  • legal or policy updates;
  • promotional messages, where permitted.

You can manage certain notification preferences in your account settings, including:

  • push notifications;

  • whether you maintain an active account;
  • whether a booking, payout, refund, dispute, or deposit claim is pending;
  • whether records are needed for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance;
  • whether consent records must be maintained to demonstrate acceptance of legal documents;
  • technical backup and disaster recovery requirements.

Examples:

  • Account data — retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward;
  • Booking and payment records — retained as needed for financial reconciliation, refunds, disputes, tax, and legal compliance;
  • Legal consent logs — retained to demonstrate which version of Terms or Policy was accepted;
  • Support and security logs — retained for investigation, abuse prevention, and system integrity;

  • access controls and authentication safeguards;
  • encryption or protected transport where appropriate;
  • tokenized payment processing through payment partners;
  • monitoring and logging of suspicious activity;
  • restricted access to sensitive documents and verification data;
  • secure deletion workflows for media stored with cloud providers.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorized access.

15. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for individuals 18 years of age or older.

We do not knowingly collect Personal Data directly from children under 18 for account registration.

If you believe a child has provided Personal Data to us in violation of this Policy, contact us and we will take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law.

16. Your Rights and Choices

  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • request information about how your Personal Data is processed;
  • lodge a complaint with a competent authority.

16.1 How to exercise your rights

We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law, subject to lawful extensions where permitted.

16.2 Limitations

Your rights may be limited where:

  • we must retain data for legal, tax, accounting, or dispute-resolution reasons;
  • deletion would impair another person's rights;
  • the request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or abusive;

  • you may receive Traveler Personal Data necessary to manage bookings, including names, contact details, guest counts, and lawful identification documents;
  • you must use such data only for booking-related, hospitality, legal, and security purposes;
  • you must not use Traveler data for unrelated marketing, resale, or off-platform solicitation;
  • you are responsible for your own compliance with Egyptian law regarding guest registration, police notification, Ministry of Tourism reporting, and document collection;
  • you must protect guest data and delete or return it when no longer needed, except where retention is required by law.

Beytak may review host account activity, listings, messages, and booking records for trust, safety, compliance, and support purposes.

18. Traveler / Guest-Specific Privacy Disclosures

If you are a Traveler, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • certain Personal Data will be shared with the Host to facilitate your stay;
  • Hosts may lawfully require identification or supporting documents before or during check-in;
  • your messages, booking details, reviews, and payment status may be visible to Beytak support for operational and dispute-resolution purposes;
  • submitting false identity or document information may result in booking cancellation, account termination, and reporting to authorities.

19. Automated Processing and Profiling

We may use automated processing to:

  • rank or recommend listings;
  • detect fraud or policy violations;
  • moderate content;
  • translate messages or content;
  • generate support suggestions;
  • analyze booking or host performance.

We do not guarantee that automated outputs are always accurate or complete.

Where applicable law grants you rights regarding automated decision-making, you may contact us to learn more about the logic involved and request human review where legally required.

20. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time.

If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Platform, email, SMS, WhatsApp, push notification, or other appropriate means.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was most recently revised.

If you do not agree to the updated Policy, you have the right to stop using the Platform and close your account, subject to outstanding legal and contractual obligations.

Continued use after the effective date of an updated Policy constitutes acceptance, where permitted by law.
